PBA 3×3: Tubid back for Terrafirma, De Chavez returns to Platinum

Ronald Tubid is set to see action in PBA 3×3’s biggest stage.

The 40-year-old veteran is making a comeback in the halfcourt competitions, as he will reinforce Terrafirma in the Second Conference Grand Finals on Wednesday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

Just like what he did in Leg 4 that saw them miss the playoffs by mere points, the decorated guard is taking the place of forward Jebb Bulawan.

Tubid and Co. are headed into the Last Dance as the 10th seed, and are grouped in Pool B together with Ginebra and Platinum Karaoke.

Known for its upset against Meralco in the quarters of the previous Grand Finals, Terrafirma will take on the no. 6 Gin Kings in the second game of the preliminaries at 9:25 a.m. before battling the guest team at 10:15 a.m.

The Dyip are actually one of the six teams that tweaked their lineups ahead of the grand finale that has P750,000 as the top purse.

No. 3 team Meralco, for one, has activated Alfred Batino for Maclean Sabellina. The former was one of the reasons behind its Leg 4 title run.

Bacon Austria and Mon Rogado are taking the places of star gunner Jeff Manday and James Mangahas for the fourth-seed San Miguel.

Manday and Mangahas made up half of the Beermen crew that ruled the sixth leg last April 13, although it may have come at a price as the flashy guard appeared to have gotten hurt during the final against Pioneer.

Ginebra has brought in Mark Dyke for Jollo Go, while Platinum will have Chris De Chavez back in the fold in lieu of big man JR Alabanza. Sista, lastly, is bringing in Jamil Gabawan for veteran Leo De Vera.
