Pablo resisting management’s move to shut her down for season


Myla Pablo is one of the toughest athletes in the country

Since the start of the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference, the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors ace had been experiencing back spasms. Still, the 23-year-old was playing tremendously offensively, consistently scoring above double-digits.

But earlier today, things got worse for the former National University star. Midway through the second set of a tightly contested tilt against Bali Pure, Pablo hunched up in pain after landing awkwardly. She had to be carried off the floor and taken to the hospital.

Pablo sprained her back and doctors have prescribed at least two weeks of rest for her to recover.

Pocari Sweat management wants shut her down for the rest of the conference but the Tarlac-native is having none of it.

According to Lady Warriors team manager Atty. Eric Ty, Pablo was defiant when he first brought up sitting her for the rest of the season.

“Sabi ko sa kanya shut down na lang namin siya for the rest of conference para mapahinga ng husto and para di na mag-worsen. I don’t want to risk the health of my players,” Ty told Tiebreaker Times.

“Sabi ko nga sa kanya ‘wag niya na isipin ‘yun pero ayaw talaga.

“Sabi niya sa akin hindi daw siya ‘yung tipo ng tao na pipirma ng ganoong contrata at kukuha ng pera tapos pepetiks na lang,” Ty added.

Pablo and team management will talk over the next two weeks to come to a final decision.
