June Mar Fajardo does not plan to file charges against the “Spiderman” who caused trouble in Game Five of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup Finals between the San Miguel Beermen and Magnolia Hotshots, Friday night.
The 6-foot-10 Fajardo collided with “Spiderman” when the man stormed to the court with 3:06 remaining in the fourth quarter. The incident delayed the game and left everyone in the SMART Araneta Coliseum shocked.
“Hindi, hindi. Walang problema sa’kin yun,” said the gentle giant from Cebu, who admitted that his lower jaw got hurt due to that.
“Pero sana maging lesson sa kanya.”
Fajardo also understands that “Spiderman” might wanted to convey a message; the unidentified man, after being arrested, said he simply wants to spread love – but it was done in the wrong manner.
“Mali yung way na pag-send niya ng message. Wala na yun. Sa akin walang problema yun. Siguro gusto niya lang magpapansin. Mali lang yung way niya. Kinuyog tuloy siya. Kawawa naman,” said the reigning Best Player of the Conference.
Now, the reigning five-time Most Valuable Player hopes that the incident – the very first time it happened in the PBA – will not happen again in the future.
“Sa mga fans, ‘wag tularan ang ganoon. Lahat naman kami naglalaro lang dito. At the end of the day, ginagawa namin ang trabaho namin,” he said. “Respeto niyo yung players. Nirerespeto namin yung fans namin. Sa mga fans, ‘wag tularan.
“Sana hindi na maulit yun.”
But that bizarre case is the least of concerns of Fajardo. The reigning six-time Philippine Cup Best Player of the Conference is more worried about the game, as his Beermen lost, 86-88, no thanks to Mark Barroca’s buzzer beater.
That stinging defeat sends San Miguel to a 2-3 deficit in the best-of-seven series. It also pushes them on the brink of losing their hold of the All-Filipino throne a throne that they have occupied for four long years.
“Kailangan naming mag-move on. Hindi yun ang pinoproblema namin. Ang problema namin yung talo ngayon.”
