No More Controversy: Edward Heno stops Seita Ogida in 7 to win OPBF title

Edward Heno made sure that there will be no controversy this time

The 24-year-old light flyweight stamped his class to win the vacant Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation belt at the University of Ryukyus in Nakagami, Japan, Sunday evening.

In his rematch with Seita Ogido, Heno stopped his Japanese rival at the 1:35 mark of the seventh round with a series of unanswered shots, giving Ogido’s corner no choice but to throw in the towel and save his ward for further harm.

“Maganda resulta ng laban,” Heno’s manager, Anson Tiu-Co, told Tiebreaker Times.

According to him, Heno was very determined to win once again to erase every doubt from the past fight.

“He made sure that there will be no leaving of the result in the judges’ hands like he said,” Tiu-Co furthered.

The victory officially gives Heno the OPBF championship, after the his win last May was overturned following a scoring mishap after less than 24 hours, forcing him to settle for a draw.

In addition, this gives Heno his 11th victory, with five draws in sixteen fights. Ogido meanwhile, drops his record to 11-3-3.
