NLEX is holding its breath after losing Brandon Ramirez late in its eventual win over Ginebra in PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup action on Wednesday night.
The Road Warriors did extend their winning streak to four after hacking out an 89-86 decision at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium but that came at a price so costly as the rookie big man reportedly suffered a dislocated jaw.
Ramirez went down in pain at the 2:59 mark of the fourth quarter following an inadvertent contact from Jamie Malonzo, never to come back.
The incident happened when he got hit in the face by the opposing winger, who was trying to evade the screen set by the former in chasing Robert Bolick.
It cut short what was a solid outing for the 18th pick of last year’s draft, as he left the game with 11 points and five rebounds to his name.
Now the Road Warriors are crossing their fingers for Ramirez, especially now that they’re in the midst of a fiery winning run in the conference.
Depending on the doctor’s findings, Ramirez could spend a few weeks on the sidelines before getting cleared to return to basketball activities.
The setback, without a doubt, is a dampener for the former MPBL champion, who just began his PBA career during the last Commissioner’s Cup last January.
