University of Santo Tomas might have found the final piece to its championship aspirations.
After long and careful consideration, Amiel Acido has chosen to join the Growling Tigers program after a stellar run with the Perpetual Junior Altas.
Acido confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.
His decision boiled down to two schools: UST and Ateneo de Manila University.
Ultimately, the opportunity to be part of the rebuilding of the Tigers program excited the 19-year-old, leading him back to España.
Back you say?
Well, Acido and fellow Altas standout Lebron Jhames Daep were supposed to be part of the Tiger Cubs program of McJour Luib prior to the ‘Sorsogon bubble.’
During his two-year stay with the Junior Altas, Acido proved to be a game-changer.
In his Grade 11 year, he averaged 17.33 points, 11.33 rebounds, 3.44 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game.
But it was in his final year when he stood out the most.
The all-around, 6-foot-3 winger put up numbers of 17.33 points, 8.75 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 1.08 steals en route to winning tournament MVP honors.
He was also at the forefront of Perpetual’s silver finish.
Now, he joins a bumper crop of recruits for UST that includes Forthsky Padrigao, Zain Mahmood, Kyle Paranada, Leland Estacio, and Ashon Andrews.
