A new era begins for Gilas Pilipinas.
German sportswear adidas has unveiled the new set of jerseys for the Philippine national basketball teams on Thursday at Monarch Manila in Makati, marking a return to the iconic brand after more than two decades.
The fresh kits, which will be used throughout the current Olympic cycle, are set to debut at major international tournaments beginning this July.
This marks the first time since the early 2000s that Gilas will don adidas uniforms.
“adidas has long championed athletes from the grassroots to the global stage. We’re honored to have them as part of the Gilas Pilipinas journey, and we hope this partnership inspires future generations of players and fans alike,” said SBP president Al Panlilio.
Despite the change in outfitter, adidas has kept one key element that has defined the Gilas identity in recent years: the use of the word “PILIPINAS” emblazoned across the chest, using the Joe College Sans NF font.
The home kit is rendered in a striking Maastricht blue — commonly referred to as regal blue — an elegant yet bold shade that aligns with the national team’s spirit.
On both the home and away versions, adidas has introduced a new signature detail: three brick red stripes running down each side of the jersey, a subtle nod to the brand’s iconic three-stripe motif, now merged with Filipino symbolism.
A final flourish that’s certain to capture attention: the sun from the Philippine flag placed at the center of the neckline.
The new Gilas uniforms are also engineered with adidas’ AEROREADY technology, designed to wick moisture and keep athletes dry and focused throughout the game.
The doubleknit fabric with a hydrophilic finish ensures lightweight comfort and breathability, while the use of recycled materials reflects adidas’ commitment to sustainability.
“Every athlete needs at least one believer to spark their journey. That’s the story of Gilas Pilipinas — fueled by passion and community,” said Dave Sexton, adidas Philippines Country Manager.
“We’re proud to stand beside SBP and Gilas as they chase greatness on the court.”
The timing of this reveal could not be more appropriate.
Gilas Women will first debut the new threads during the 2025 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup from July 13 to 20 in Shenzhen, China.
Shortly after, the Gilas Men will showcase their version in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, scheduled for August 5 to 17 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
These jerseys will also grace the 3×3 court.
The Gilas Women 3×3 team will wear the new kits in the upcoming FIBA Under-23 World Cup in Xiong’an, China, as well as in matches throughout the ongoing FIBA Women’s Series.
Limited Release for Fans
To give fans the chance to proudly wear their colors at Gilas Pilipinas Men’s upcoming home game, adidas will release the first wave of official jerseys on July 26, 2025 — just in time for the exhibition match against the Macau Black Bears on July 28 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The initial drop will be available at adidas Brand Center Glorietta in Makati and adidas Home of Sport TriNoma in Quezon City, with a wider nationwide release planned for September.
A portion of the proceeds will support SBP’s programs, helping nurture the next generation of basketball talent.
Each jersey purchase comes with a Limited-Edition Gilas Fan Pack, which includes a drawstring pack, baller bands, sticker set, and postcards.
For an additional fee, fans may avail of in-store customization at the locations listed above to personalize their jerseys with their favorite player’s name and number sets or any other custom text.
