Sarangani 10ACT might have more losses than wins in the ongoing 2026 MPBL season, but it could easily have notched at least five more wins.
The Marlins have suffered close losses to Marikina, Valenzuela, Bulacan, and Pasig in games that could have gone either way.
“Sayang but that’s basketball,” said team captain Migs Pascual.
“But it’s still a long season and I believe our team has what it takes to turn things around.”
It’s not because the Marlins lack depth, as the likes of Lars Sunga, Carl Lacap, Danny Marilao, Yvan Ludovice, King Destacamento, and Leland Estacio have all had their moments so far.
Rather, it’s because of their inexperience playing together.
That’s where Pascual comes in.
The 6-foot guard has been the glue for the Marlins so far, averaging 7.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per contest.
He has also posted four 11-point outings and recorded five or more assists in two games.
“It’s my job to make everyone better,” he said.
“We just need more time together and we’ll get it.”
Time is also of the essence for Pascual.
The 24-year-old all-around guard is hoping to raise his stock for the upcoming PBA Draft.
The 2027 class promises to be a deep one, making his task even tougher.
“Ang dami ko pang kailangan iimprove and I’m working on it this season,” said Pascual.
“I’m not just working on my skills but also my leadership because yan yung kailangan ko to get to the next level.”
