Mason Amos, Francis Lopez face off in Slam Rising Stars


Good pals Mason Amos and Francis Lopez will face off before formally entering the collegiate ranks.

The ninth edition of the Slam Rising Stars will see the two upstarts lead their respective teams on Saturday at Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong.

Amos will lead Team Punks, featuring his future Ateneo de Manila University teammates Kobe Demisana and Lebron Nieto.

Joining the Blue Eagles trio are University of the Philippines commits Jared Bahay, Chris Hubilla, and Luis Pablo; University of Santo Tomas commits SJ Moore and Mark Llemit; Adamson University’s Mat Adding; Far Eastern University’s JR Pasaol and Veejay Pre; and De La Salle Zobel’s Kieffer Alas.

On the other hand, Lopez will have future UP teammate Seven Gagate on his side.

De La Salle University’s Rhyle Melencio and Matthew Rubico; National University’s Reinhard Jumamoy and RJ Colonia; Letran’s Andy Gemao; Perpetual’s Amiel Acido; San Beda’s Andrei Dungo; College of Saint Benilde’s Mowell Morales; and Ateneo’s Raffy Celis and Kris Porter complete the squad.

Coaching Team Hype is FEU-Diliman’s Allan Albano while Team Punks will have Letran’s Allen Ricardo.

Meanwhile, the girls will take center stage on Sunday.

Camille Nolasco will lead Team Buckets and will be joined by Candice Udal, Cielo Pagdulagan, Charize Shameral, Dandan Alterado, Juliana Lazo, Kharel Siapoc, Lauren Lopez, Kyle Sunga, Kyla Mataga, Marga Villanueva, and Madelyn Flores.

BJ Villarin headlines Team Stars, which will also have Ash Abong, Frankie Buenvenida, Dominique Lita, Jhulliana Pagteilan, Isis Alcantara, Kyla Laylo, Karylle Sierba, Leanne Gancia, Rachelle Mendoza, Megan Soriano, and Maxim Magbanua.
