Malick Diouf puts up monster line as CEU pounds Trinity

Continuing their tear in the Foundation Group, the Centro Escolar University Scorpions made quick work of CD14 Designs-Trinity University Stallions of Asia, to score a 93-69 blowout for their fifth straight win in the 2019 PBA D-League on Monday at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

Maodo Malick Diouf powered the Scorpions’ hot start, as they grabbed an early 31-15 first quarter lead. They extended it to 28, 45-17, midway through the second period.

The Senegalese big man pumped 27 points, 18 rebounds, and four blocks in the dominant win.

But it wasn’t all him, as the locals also had their share to help CEU grab a lead as high as 30, 90-60 in the fourth frame.

Jan Formento came off the bench to score 17 points from a 6-of-8 field goal shooting, as Judel Fuentes and Pierce Chan took 13 apiece in the win.

“I was worried about my team because (CD14 Designs-Trinity were) winless, and my team might just take them for granted,” lamented coach Derrick Pumaren. ‘Thatā€™s what Iā€™ve been harping on them. Theyā€™re 0-4 and if theyā€™re gonna get their first win, they have to get it on the other teams.”

John Tayongtong and Gab Reyes paced the winless White Stallions with 11 points each, as they fell to a 0-5 record.

The Scores:

CEU 93 – Diouf 27, Formento 17, Fuentes 13, Chan 13, Lisbo 7, David 6, Ke. Caballero 5, Uri 3, Diaz 2, Intic 0, Abastillas 0.
