After the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers had entered the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference championship round after beating the Petron Tri-Activ Spikers in straight sets, opposite hitter Kim Kianna Dy immediately shifted her focus to the Finals.
“Beating Petron, it gave us confidence coming into the Finals,” Dy, who finished the game against Petron with nine attacks and two kill blocks, told Tiebreaker Times.
“Iyon talaga ang kailangan namin.”
Since flashing her immense potential in last year’s All-Filipino Conference, the 21-year-old has immediately become a consistent force for seasoned head coach Ramil De Jesus.
Her breakout campaign was a crucial factor in La Salle’s recent championship run, and it has carried over into the ongoing PSL conference. Dy also added that her transition to being a better player was made possible by the guidance of former Queen Archers Cha Cruz, Aby Marano, and Stephanie Mercado.
“I’ll take this opportunity to learn from the veterans.”
“Nandoon ‘yung leadership nila, nandoon ‘yung puso nila. Sila naman ang nagstart sa La Salle at nagcontinue lang sa amin. Super privilege na makalaro ko sila,” the UAAP Season 78 Finals MVP added.
However, Dy admitted that she must play at a whole other level to gain the advantage in their upcoming championship clash against the dangerous Foton Tornadoes, the team’s only loss of the season.
“Siguro gusto ko pang higitan kung ano ang kaya ko. I have to learn new things from this league,” Dy added. “Exciting kasi ibang level ito [at iba ito] sa UAAP. It’s a new level, parang we have to higitan ang laro namin.”
“Motivation ‘yung natalo kami [against Foton] kasi parang sa UAAP, kapag natatalo kami, mas gusto namin nananalo.”
