Kalei Mau looks forward to facing Sisi Rondina: ‘I’m definitely going to prepare’

All eyes will be on the top contenders in the 2019 PSL All-Filipino Conference on Thursday, as the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers put their unbeaten record at stake against the revenge-seeking Petron Blaze Spikers.

Safe to say, it will be a thrilling chapter to a storied rivalry.

But another narrative will also get a share of the spotlight — the first face-off between Kalei Mau and Sisi Rondina this conference.

Both players have played each other in the past, but it will be the first time Mau sees the 5-foot-6 dynamo across the net as a member of F2 Logistics.

“I’ve never faced her [this season],” said the 6-foot-2 Fil-Hawaiian, referring to Rondina.

“So I’m definitely going to prepare the right way, and we’ll see.”

The last time the two shared a PSL court was back in the first round of the 2018 All-Filipino Conference. Though Mau tallied 18 points, her Cocolife received a three-set drubbing at the hands of Petron.

Then in the first round, the Cargo Movers dealt the Blaze Spikers their first loss in the conference. Mau was the biggest reason why F2 Logistics emerged unscathed as she delivered a game-high 23 points built on 21 attacks and two blocks.

On the other hand, Petron badly missed the services of not just Rondina but also Denden Lazaro. The former was on an out-of-country trip during the said match, while the latter was nursing a foot injury.

For her part, the UAAP Season 81 Most Valuable Player assured that she’s going to give her maximum effort come the match against the Mau-led F2 Logistics.

“Basta ako, always ready ako to contribute and to help my team,” Rondina said.

And as competitive as ever, Mau cannot wait to face the defending champions at full strength.

“I’m so excited. You know I’m always up for the challenge so I’m looking forward to it,” the F2 Logistic stalwart said.
