June Mar Fajardo is set for a check-up after experiencing tightness in his left calf during Game 4 of the PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup Finals, Friday.
The seven-time MVP was brought out at the 5:14-mark of the fourth quarter, never to return as he helplessly watched his San Miguel fall to a 96-85 decision against Magnolia that ultimately tied the best-of-7 series at two games apiece.
“May ultrasound ako bukas after practice,” he told reporters moments after emerging from the team’s dugout at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Fajardo hopes that it’s nothing serious, which is undeniably the same sentiment of the entire Beermen especially after losing their main man for the most of the elimination round – no thanks to a left metacarpal fracture.
“‘Di naman siguro,” said the soft-spoken star, who left Game 4 with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the foul line and 13 rebounds.
“OK naman siguro.”
But what he’s hoping for the most is for San Miguel to find ways to go back to their usual after losing for the second game in a row.
That, after going on a fiery 11-game winning streak from the eliminations’ tail-end up to Game 2 of the ongoing championship series.
One thing they’re looking to address is getting Bennie Boatwright back in his groove after being held to a conference-low 16 points in the loss
“Maganda ‘yung depensa nila kay Bennie,” he said.
“‘Yun nga pinagusapan kanina sa loob. Kailangan namin panoorin ‘yung video. Kailangan namin mag-adjust.”
