John Amores’ camp is set to file an appeal with the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) following its decision to revoke his playing license.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial has been informed of this development, as he recently spoke with the embattled NorthPort guard after the country’s regulatory body for professional sports concluded its investigation over the weekend.
The league has also received a copy of GAB Case No. 109-4, which finds Amores guilty of “conduct unbecoming of a professional basketball player.”
This decision prohibits the former JRU standout from returning to the PBA or playing in other professional leagues in the country sanctioned by GAB.
“We will comply,” Marcial told reporters during a brief conversation on Monday night. “Kasi government ‘yun, and under supervision tayo ng GAB.”
Despite this setback, the 25-year-old still has a chance to reapply for his license, according to reports. However, he must first resolve certain issues.
At the forefront is his ongoing legal battle, after being charged with attempted homicide for allegedly firing at and missing Lee Cacalda during an unsanctioned game in Lumban, Laguna last September.
Amores and his brother, John Red, were able to post bail, which allowed the former to present his side of the story to Marcial and the league’s legal team.
Tiebreaker Times has learned from sources that the parties involved in the case may reach a settlement.
However, the financial cost of such an agreement could prove to be significant for Amores.
Additionally, he must fulfill the PBA’s directive to undergo counseling aimed at addressing his anger and violent tendencies.
