In one of the most anticipated match-ups of MPL Philippines Season 15, Twisted Minds’ Jhonville “Outplayed” Villar and TNC Pro Team’s Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera faced off for the first time since their controversial social media feud earlier this year.
Twisted Minds fell short of securing its first franchise win, suffering a reverse sweep against a red-hot TNC squad, which extended its winning streak to three straight matches on Sunday evening at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.
However, the bigger story of the night was the supposed “beef” between Outplayed and Yawi, which stemmed from a ranked match between their teams last January.
Despite the tension, the two were seen hugging after their intense three-game series, displaying mutual respect for each other’s performances.
During Twisted Minds’ post-game interview, Outplayed was asked about this moment of sportsmanship, given their rumored animosity.
“Okay naman po kami, parang feel ko naman po yung naging banter namin sa FB parang naging misunderstanding lang, pero nag-sorry naman po kami sa isa’t isa after nun kaya po dinelete namin,” Outplayed explained.
The former ECHO gold laner emphasized that his main focus was securing his team’s first win rather than proving a point against his former teammates, Yawi and Sadia “Zaida” Palma.
“Wala naman po, ang goal ko lang po talaga ngayong match talagang makapalag or manalo kami ng series eh, wala na po akong pake kahit sino kalaban namin ganun, basta mag-improve kaming lahat,” he said.
Two weeks into Season 15, Outplayed remains optimistic about Twisted Minds’ progress despite their slow start.
“Feel ko naman po umusad kahit mga 30 or 40-percent lahat kami,” he noted.
