Team Falcons PH snapped a seven-game losing streak with a dramatic 2-1 reverse sweep of Twisted Minds in Week 5 of the MPL Philippines Season 16 on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City.
The victory improved Team Falcons’ record to 2-7 heading into their final five matches. It also keeps them just behind Smart Omega (3-6), AP.Bren (3-5), and TNC Pro Team (3-5) in the fight to avoid the bottom two playoff spots.
“Yung feeling kasi namin na lose streak kami, parang ang hirap talagang bumawi. Sobrang wala kaming morale kasi lagi kaming talo at lagi kaming kinakapos. Sinabi ko na lang sa kanila na kalaban lang naman nila sarili nila,” shared Trebor on what transpired during today’s pre-game preparations.
Game 1 was decided by an intense 18th-minute team fight, where Miguel “Sionnn” Alcantara (Kimmy) secured a double kill, leading to a 4-for-1 trade. This gave Twisted Minds the momentum to push down the midlane and claim the opener, 1-0.
Team Falcons PH bounced back in Game 2 with a commanding performance, led by David “FlapTzy” Canon’s aggressive initiations on Arlott. His two-man Final Slash during an 11th-minute siege set up a flawless 5-for-0 wipeout, leveling the series.
In the decider, Marco “Super Marco” Requitiano stole the spotlight with a phenomenal Moskov showing, securing the comeback victory for Team Falcons PH.
His double kill during the 18th-minute lord fight punctuated Team Falcons’ 4-for-0 wipe to regain map control and take the series win with a 5-for-0 wipeout late in the 20th minute.
Team Falcons will next face TNC Pro Team on Saturday, September 27.
