Light, TNC exorcise Bren curse, go up to third in MPL PH

TNC handed Bren Esports its third-straight loss in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Eight via a 2-0 sweep, Saturday night.

After taking the opener, TNC went for the kill in Game Two by pouncing on a lethargic Bren Esports squad which looked out of sync for the entirety of the match.

Entering the 16-minute mark, the team mounted a successful siege that saw them take down the MPL Season Six champion’s middle inhibitor turret.

Then, Dylan “Light” Catipon (Khufra) initiated a perfect catch on Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno’s X.Borg and CJ “Ribo” Ribo’s Uranus outside Bren Esports’ base which resulted in a four-man wipe and eventually, the Game Two win.

Light was named the SMART 5G MVP with a game-high eight assists in the 12-13 Game Two domination which lasted for only 16 minutes and seven seconds.MPL-PH-8-TNC-def-Bren-Game-2 Light, TNC exorcise Bren curse, go up to third in MPL PH ESports Mobile Legends MPL-PH News - philippine sports news

“Napakasarap kasi the curse has been lifted na, kumbaga… ang sarap,” said TNC head coach Laurence “Lift” Ruiz.

With the win, TNC moved up to the third spot with six points and a 2-1 standing while Bren Esports (0-3) tied with Nexplay EVOS (0-3) at the last spot with a point each.

TNC overcame Bren Esports’ early lead on the back of Daniel “Chuuu” Chu’s Ling to draw first blood in the series.

Bren Esports was poised to take the match after an impressive early game showing from CJ “Ribo” Ribo (Harith) and Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel (Pharsa) – even taking the first Lord of the match before the 12-minute mark.

However, a late pickoff on Charles “FlapTzy” Canon’s Gloo and Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno’s Benedetta opened up a free Luminous Lord take for TNC which then slammed the doors on the world champions.

This is one of the worst starts for Bren Esports as they already tied the 0-3 record they had in the previous season.

TNC looks to continue its streak against ONIC PH tomorrow at 6:00 PM while Bren Esports will try and extract their first win against the same team on Friday at 8:00 PM.
