LAPU-LAPU CITY — Jeremy Lin won’t see action in New Taipei’s East Asa Super League (EASL) Final Four semis clash versus Chiba on Friday.
The former NBA veteran is out of the Kings’ 12-man lineup released by the league hours before the 8:00 PM encounter at the Hoops Dome here.
Lin has been hounded by a lingering foot injury that caused him to miss multiple P.League+ games, as reported by Focus Taiwan. The team is hoping that the 35-year-old guard will be available to play on Sunday.
New Taipei, though, will be parading another ex-NBA pro in Austin Daye, who’s making a comeback after playing for the franchise last year.
The 35-year-old previously played for Muharraq Club in the FIBA West Asia Super League.
He is expected to bring the goods for a Kings side to be led by Joseph Lin, Kenny Manigault, and winger Hayden Blankley.
Quincy David, Lee Kai-Yan, Lin Chin-Pang, Hung Chih-Shan, Su Shih-Hsuan, Yang Chin-Min, Chien You-Che, and Wang Po-Chih complete the crew.
New Taipei will be taking on an undefeated Chiba side led, of course, by star playmaker Yuki Togashi and naturalized forward Ira Brown.
The Jets are the heavy favorites to win it all, especially with a roster that also features Australia Boomer and ex-NBA cager Xavier Cooks, John Mooney, and other national team members such as Shuta Hara and Ren Kanechika.
Meanwhile, Rhenz Abando is part of the 12-man roster of Anyang Jung Kwan Jang for its meeting against Seoul SK in the Final Four opener at 5:00 PM.
The 25-year-old winger, though, remains doubtful to see action for the Red Boosters after aggravating his back injury during his first game back against Goyang Sono in the Korean Basketball League just last Sunday.
Former Converge import Jamil Wilson is also in the squad, along with Robert Carter, Lee Woo-jung, Jung Joon-won, Park Ji-hoon, Ko Chan-hyuk, Kim Kyung Won, Choi Seong-won, Kim Sang-kyu, Jeong Hyo-guen, and Lee Jong-hyun.
The Knights, on the other hand, won’t have Juan Gomez de Liano after undergoing a season-ending surgery on his finger.
The upcoming Anyang-Seoul SK affair will be a rematch of the EASL Champions Week 2023 Final in Okinawa, which the Red Boosters won, 90-84.
