After a so-so debut, Glen Rice, Jr. has been proving himself worthy of his spot in the TNT Katropa roster. His norms of 31.75 points and 9.0 rebounds in their last four games, safe to say, speaks volumes of his vast improvement.
The second-generation cager continued his notable outing for the Katropa Wednesday night, leading his side in a 113-107 win over Meralco Bolts with 32 points and 11 rebounds — his second straight double-double outing.
The 26-year-old has been nothing short of spectacular for the now-5-3 TNT. But for Jayson Castro, he believes that the former Washington Wizard still has a lot to showcase, aside from what he has been bringing to the table.
And it has something to do with the way Rice Jr. asserts himself come the payoff period.
During TNT’s win over Meralco, the second-generation cager already scored 27 points during the first three quarters but was limited to just five points in the final frame.
“Yung pagdating sa fourth quarter, maging aggressive pa [sana] siya,” the 31-year-old hoped of the youthful reinforcement. “Kasi pagdating ng fourth quarter kapag alam niyang dino-double na siya, pinapasa niya kaagad eh.
“Kung ano yung aggressiveness niya from the start, gusto namin ganun din pagdating ng fourth quarter.”
Still, the six-time champion is sold that the Miami-born Rice Jr., TNT’s replacement for initial choice Michael Craig, is the reinforcement the Katropa needs as the season-ending conference is about to reach the playoffs.
“Ah, yes,” claimed the nine-year veteran. “Maganda naman kung ‘pag everytime na nasa loob siya maraming nangyayari.
“Kaya niya umiskor, kaya niya dumipensa, so OK naman.”
