Jay Washington signs with B3 team Yokohama

Jay Washington’s journey in Japan is not yet over.

Days after being released by B1 team Ryukyu, the 41-year-old stretch forward was picked up by B3 team Yokohoma.

“Obviously, there was a little nervousness joining the team but everybody was great. I’m very excited to be here. I’m excited to help these guys this season,” said Washington.

The two-time former PBA Best Player of the Conference only played six games for the Golden Kings, averaging 2.2 points and 0.8 rebounds in 5.8 minutes.

He joins an Excellence team that is 14-6 in Division 3 and is looking to get promoted to Division 2 this season.

“The goal is to win the championship and I like to be a part of that. That’s the motivation, to help a franchise that wants to win,” said Washington.

He will make his Excellence debut this weekend against Iwate at Morioka Takaya Arena.

Meanwhile, the Golden Kings have already found their Asian import and are set to announce their signing later this month.
