Jamaal Franklin is leaving the judgment to others after an apparent non-call drew his ire late in Converge’s PBA Governors’ Cup duel with Phoenix, Sunday.
The FiberXers import was asking for a shooting foul when his triple went airball with 6.5 seconds left, which he launched against Simon Camacho.
Based on replays, the young forward’s hand appeared to have made contact with the shooting arm of the ex-NBA cager. Play, though, went on.
Converge eventually lost, 106-103.
But it wasn’t done yet as Franklin was seen on broadcast expressing his displeasure to one of the referees before heading to the dugout.
“What you think about it?” he asked, seemingly rhetorically, to reporters moments after the match at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
“What do you think about it? You just tell me what you think about it and we can go with that,” the 31-year-old forward continued.
One can’t put Franklin at fault for being frustrated. Aside from the apparent non-call, the FiberXers blew a 12-point lead and went on to absorb their third loss.
“We lost, they won. It sucks every loss. If we win that game, I think we could’ve been second if we won that game. It sucks,” he said.
Converge is now down to its final two games versus Meralco and Ginebra, respectively, and Franklin stressed both matches’ importance.
The club went down at no. 4 in the standings at 6-3 following the defeat, and sweeping their remaining assignments would bolster their Top 4 hopes.
“Every game is important, no matter who we play,” he said.
“It’s only 11 games in the conference, every game is important. Especially now that we’re getting close to the playoffs,” added Franklin.
