2019 SEA Games

Jaja Santiago out of SEA Games pool, Gonzaga, Madayag added

The Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team has suffered a huge blow.

Japanese club team Ageo Medics has barred six-foot-five spiker Jaja Santiago from joining the national team for the upcoming 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

“Hi Coach, Good morning po. Nakausap ko na po yung agent ko and Hindi po umagree yung Japan team ko for Seagames. Gagawa na po ata sila ng letter,” Santiago wrote in a message to the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas, Inc.

Santiago – who has been a mainstay in the program – begins her second campaign in the Japan V. League on October 27.

In a report by SPIN.ph, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Maddie Madayag, and Roselyn Doria have been added to the pool. Meanwhile, the likes of Jema Galanza, Jerrili Malabanan, Tots Carlos, Celine Domingo, and Gel Cayuna have withdrawn.

Other members of the pool include Aby Maraño, Kalei Mau, Alyssa Valdez, Mika Reyes, Majoy Baron, Ces Molina, Jia Morado, Mylene Paat, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Kath Arado, and young gun Eya Laure.

The national team pool is set to fly to Thailand for a 12-day camp this Saturday.
