The learning experience continues for Gilas Pilipinas Women.
The Uratex-backed squad was overwhelmed in the Orleans Stop of the 2024 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series, bowing to Poland (21-10) and Italy (22-11) on Thursday afternoon at Place du Martroi in France.
Gilas Women’s 3×3 went 0-2 in Pool D, resulting in their elimination from the competition.
The height of both Poland and Italy proved to be the difference in both contests, as most of their points came from the inside.
Against Poland, Allana Lim and Hazelle Yam linked up early to give the Philippines a fighting chance.
With the game knotted at 6-all, Klaudia Sosnowska and Aleksandra Zięmborska took charge, powering their breakaway.
Sosnowska and Zięmborska tallied nine points each, while Lim and Yam combined for 10 points.
It was the same story against Italy.
Again, Gilas was in the thick of things early before the trio of Stefania Trimboli, Chiara Consolini, and Maria Miccoli decided not to settle for the outside shot, bulldozing their way inside to cruise to the win.
Miccoli led the way for Italy with nine points.
Pingol, who went scoreless against Poland, scored four points against Italy.
Italy ended up sweeping the pool after a 22-11 victory over Poland.
Gilas will not take part in the Chengdu and Poitiers stops of the Women’s Series.
