It is the first time seasoned coach George Pascua went up against his alma mater when Adamson University took on Far Eastern University on Saturday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
The former Tamaraw and national team standout felt overwhelmed with the feeling as he admitted after the game.
“Medyo mixed emotions kasi siyempre alma mater ko yon.
“Basta, ano lang, laban lang. Kung sinong manalo, ganun talaga. Pero siyempre dahil first time, siyempre, pagkakinanta yung FEU hymn at Adamson hymn, proud ako sa both teams,” Pascua shared.
On one hand, the multi-titled mentor was proud of what he saw with his former team, seeing them continue with classic FEU volleyball with his mentee Rey Diaz continuing his system.
Pascua shared, “Siyempre, andon naman talaga yung roots. Dun kami nanggaling. Siyempre, kahit papano yang adaptation ng sistema same lang kami. Depende lang sa players kung paano yung adaptation.
“Siyempre sa Adamson, wala pa kaming isang taon, kumbaga yung adaptation hindi pa kagaya nung FEU.”
Nonetheless, for Pascua, the past few games have been a continuing learning process for the Soaring Falcons.
“Every game, nag-iimprove naman. Importante lang, sabi ko sa kanila, you learn. Kasi gine-gain namin is experience eh. Kahit papaano, tumataas naman yun, and hopefully sa next game, tumaas uli,” he said.
“One at a time. Hindi naman gusto nating andun kagad. So, kailangang laging may learning kahit natatalo para panalo pa rin kahit natalo.”
