After failing to respond to the Games and Amusement Board’s request regarding the allegations raised against them, the agency had no other recourse but to blacklist and bar Global Makati FC and its team manager Mark Jarvis.
GAB chairman Baham Mitra signed the order, dated September 7.
With this, Global will no longer be allowed to apply for or renew its license, transact with GAB, or otherwise act as a professional licensee.
“We are unhappy about what happened, and we are acting on the complaint of the players whose livelihood and careers have been affected,” Mitra said in a statement.
“I hope this serves as a deterrent and a lesson to others who may do the same. GAB’s mandate is to look after the welfare of our professional athletes, and we intend to do just that.”
Allegations came up against Global for not paying the salaries of its players, coaches, and staff last month.
Global has an outstanding balance of PHP 5,800,000.
GAB issued a showcase order last August 4, which Jarvis acknowledged.
Last September 1, the PFL suspended the license of Global.
