Marco “Super Marco” Requitano unleashed the first savage of MPL Philippines Season 15, leading Team Falcons to a thrilling 2-1 reverse sweep over reigning world champions ONIC Philippines on Friday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.
Living up to his “The Bulletproof” moniker, Super Marco delivered a flawless performance in Game 2, racking up a perfect 12/0/4 KDA on Granger to shift the momentum in Falcons’ favor. His heroics not only kept the series alive but also earned him back-to-back MVP honors in the team’s statement victory.
With the win, Team Falcons improved to a 2-1 record, securing sole possession of the second seed in the standings behind Aurora, which sits at 2-0 and has yet to face AP.Bren to cap off Day 1 of Week 2.
“Sobrang saya, kasi natalo din namin yung ONIC kanina, expected namin talaga, sobrang papahirapan nila kami,” shared head coach Robert “Trebor” Sanchez.
In Game 3, the M5 World Champions countered Miguel “Super Frince” Ramirez’s signature Lou Yi with a debut Vale pick, shutting down ONIC’s diversion plays using Vale’s unique skill set.
Despite securing the final enhanced Lord, ONIC struggled to close out the game. Team Falcons turned the tide by eliminating four ONIC players, leaving Duane “Kelra” Pillas alone to defend their base. Falcons then marched down the middle lane and secured the victory in just 14 minutes and 31 seconds.
ONIC opened the series with a dominant Game 1 performance, led by King “K1NGKONG” Perez’s Fanny, which finished with seven kills, 10 assists, and just two deaths.
Team Falcons will look to build on their momentum when they face Twisted Minds this Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, ONIC Philippines will aim to snap their losing streak against Team Liquid Philippines in Week 3 at the same venue.
