Nxled ends PVL campaign on high note with sweep of undermanned Farm Fresh

Nxled concluded its campaign on a high note, sweeping the short-handed Farm Fresh in straight sets, 25-17, 25-17, 25-18, in the battle of also-ran squads in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the Philsports Arena.

The Chameleons saved their best performance for last, delivering a well-balanced offensive attack to overpower the Foxies and secure the win. The victory allowed them to finish the play-in tournament with a 1-1 record in Pool B.

A total of nine players contributed at least two points for Nxled, with team captain Chiara Permentilla leading the way with nine points and 11 excellent digs. Krich Macaslang also tallied nine points in the one-hour, 27-minute contest.

EJ Laure, who only played in the final two sets, and rookie Lucille Almonte chipped in eight points each, while Lycha Ebon added seven markers.

Setter Jaja Maraguinot orchestrated the offense with 12 excellent sets and added two points of her own. Rachel Jorvina and Sheila Pineda took charge of the defensive effort, combining for 20 excellent digs and 11 excellent receptions.

Chameleons head coach Etorre Guidetti expressed his satisfaction with how his team approached their final match of the tournament, emphasizing the importance of ending the campaign on a strong note to build momentum for the next conference.

“I’m really happy to win again because it’s been a while. I remember the last one being during the first leg of the tournament. Finishing strong is very important for us because it’s a positive way to reset,” said Guidetti.

“Our aim is to rise, and our goal is to keep improving. We’re going to start preparations for the next conference immediately, so this win sends a good message that we competed with the same respect for every team we faced,” he added.

Nxled concluded the conference with an overall record of 2-11, winning one match in both the eliminations and the play-in round.

The Chameleons took advantage of a depleted Farm Fresh lineup, which was down to just 12 players as Trisha Tubu, Jolina Dela Cruz, Lorene Toring, Janel Delerio, and Maica Larroza—all nursing minor injuries—sat out the non-bearing match.

Key players Louie Romero, Jheck Dionela, and Alyssa Bertolano also played limited minutes for Farm Fresh.

Despite the shortage, rookie Pierre Abellana maximized her playing time by scoring a game-high 10 points. Veteran spiker Rachel Daquis added nine points, 11 excellent digs, and eight excellent receptions for the Foxies.

AJ Jingco anchored the defense with 11 excellent digs and six excellent receptions.

Farm Fresh, which placed sixth in the eliminations, wrapped up its All-Filipino Conference campaign with a 5-8 overall record.
