Filipinas crack top 50 in latest FIFA rankings

The Philippine Football Federation was beaming with pride as the Philippine Women’s National Team achieved its highest FIFA ranking of No. 49 on March 24, 2023.

It was an incredible moment for the country, highlighting the importance of teamwork, dedication, and sacrifice. The rise of the Filipinas demonstrated that with the right support, belief, and commitment, anything is possible.

The federation gave credit to team manager Jefferson Cheng for his unwavering support and collaboration with the team.

“We thank team manager Jefferson Cheng for his support to the team, and for joining hands with the federation to ensure that planned directions of the team are pursued with vigor. We also acknowledge the efforts of coach Alen Stajcic, and the Filipino coaches that come before him, in steering the team to great heights,” read the statement of the federation headed by President Mariano Araneta.

“Most of all, we are grateful for our national team players who, time and again, have shown their love for our country by representing the Philippines with pride and honor each time they step into the pitch. Indeed, plenty of the work is done behind the scenes – at planning sessions, in camps, and days and hours before matches – and we thank those who have quietly sacrificed their time and effort to ensure that the team continues its progress.”

Head coach Alen Stajcic was ecstatic about the team’s accomplishments. He believed that this was another milestone in their journey to the World Cup, confirming that they were heading in the right direction.

“Another amazing milestone for the team on this journey to the World Cup. Another record for the country and further objective confirmation that we are heading in the right direction,” said Filipinas head coach Alen Stajcic.

The PFF recognized that a lot of effort went into achieving this milestone, from planning sessions to training camps to the days and hours before matches. They were grateful for those who quietly sacrificed their time and effort to ensure the team’s continued progress.

The federation hoped that the Filipinas’ achievements would inspire the rest of the country, especially the sporting youth. They believed that the Filipinas’ success showed that with hard work and dedication, anyone could achieve their dreams.

The PFF also hopes that the entire nation would rally behind the Filipinas as they competed in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in July 2023.
