Far Eastern University continues to bolster its roster ahead of UAAP Season 89.
The Tamaraws have secured the commitment of Filipino-American guard Elias Gish, with head coach Sean Chambers and Fil-Am Nation confirming the development to Tiebreaker Times.
“We’re extremely excited to announce the commitment of Elias Gish, a 6’7 guard from Clovis North High School in Fresno, California,” said Tamaraws head coach Chambers.
According to Fil-Am Nation co-founder Rodel Lizan, Chambers had already been monitoring Gish’s games at Clovis North High School even before the NBTC.
Gish, who is set to graduate from Clovis North High School, recently suited up for Fil-Am Nation Select in the 2026 SMART-NBTC National Finals.
“Elias brings a versatile, multi-level skill set that will make an immediate impact on our style of play. He’s a high-level shooter with tremendous length and outstanding ball-handling ability,” Chambers added.
The 18-year-old guard from Fresno, California emerged as the third-leading scorer for Fil-Am Nation’s three-peat squad, averaging 14.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.
It was during that stint that he began considering a move to his mother’s homeland for college.
Last April 7, Gish visited FEU and came away impressed with the campus.
“The FEU student body, fans, and alumni are going to be thrilled watching him compete. Elias possesses a rare skill set for his size—one that’s difficult to teach,” Chambers said.
Gish is expected to bring his versatility to an FEU side that already features reigning MVP Janrey Pasaol, one-time Elite Team member Mo Konateh, and Kirby Mongcopa. Despite standing at 6-foot-7, he plays as a combo guard.
“The FEU men’s basketball team just got a lot better,” Chambers expressed.
“I truly envision Elias having a long, successful career playing in the Philippines.”
Aside from Gish, FEU also secured the commitment of Marc Burgos.
Burgos, a 6-foot-5 forward, averaged 11.3 points and 6.2 rebounds during the Baby Tamaraws’ championship run in the UAAP Season 88 High School Boys’ Basketball Tournament.
