Far Eastern University-Diliman rose to the occasion, rallying back to claim a Game 3 106-102 overtime victory over National University Nazareth School and capture the UAAP Season 88 High School Boys’ Basketball title on Monday at the Blue Eagle Gym.
The triumph marked FEU-Diliman’s 10th championship in the division—and its first since UAAP Season 85, when the Baby Tamaraws were bannered by Janrey Pasaol, Veejay Pre, and Kirby Mongcopa.
NUNS, which entered the contest seeking redemption in its third straight winner-take-all appearance, looked poised to finally break through under coach Kevin De Castro.
But despite a strong start, the Bullpups faltered down the stretch as the Baby Tamaraws engineered a massive comeback.
In the end, it was another painful finish for De Castro, whose squad fell short once more following previous heartbreaks against Adamson University in Season 85 and University of Santo Tomas in Season 86.
