F2 Logistics sweeps pool matches, Generika-Ayala A survives tough Pool A

F2 Logistics Cargo Movers’ Michelle Morente and Fritz Gallenero dominated Pool D, while Generika-Ayala A’s Fiola Ceballos and Patty Orendain squeaked out of Pool A in day two of the Philippine Superliga Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup, Thursday evening.

Morente and Gallenero made short work of their pool matches sweeping Cocolife-B’s Marge Tejada and Denden Tan (21-16, 21-11) and Sta. Lucia-B’s Jonah Sabete and Bianca Lizares (21-16, 21-16).

Last year’s runners-up, Ceballos and Orendain made it out of their do-or-die encounter with Cocolife-A’s Nene Bautista and Danika Gendrauli (21-7, 21-8) to enter the quarterfinals.

Later in the competition, Foton’s twin tandem of Nieza and Jeziela Viray completed a sweep in Pool C after handling Smart’s Jingay Bangad and Caitlyn Viray (21-10, 21-17). Cignal-B’s Cherry Vivas and Janine Navarro then booked the last ticket out of Pool C after outlasting Smart (18-21, 22-20, 15-13).

Sta. Lucia-A’s Jackie Estoquia and DM Demontaño then completed the quarterfinals cast after sweeping Generika-Ayala B’s Bang Pineda and Sheika Espinosa (21-14, 21-19).

The quarterfinals matchups are as follows:

Sta Lucia-A (Estoquia/Demontaño) vs Cignal B (Navarro/Vivas)

F2 Logistics (Morente/Gallenero) vs Cignal A (Paat/Aguilar)

Petron (Rondina/Pons) vs Sta Lucia B (Sabete/Lizarea)

Generila Ayala-A (Ceballos/Orendain) vs Foton (N. Viray/J. Viray)
