Michele Gumabao, Creamline laser-focused to win title

Decorated opposite spiker Michele Gumabao asserted that Creamline is all business heading into the 2019 PVL Reinforced Conference finals.

The Rebisco-backed team is two games away from a three-peat, as the reigning champion will try and defend their crown against Petro Gazz.

And having faced two different teams in their last two Finals appearances namely PayMaya and Motolite-Ateneo in the Reinforced and Open conferences, respectively, Gumabao sung praises of her team’s consistency.

“Every Finals, actually, iba-iba ang kalaban namin,” the 26-year-oldGumabao recalled.

“And it’s good kasi alam namin na we are consistent as a team, consistent in our teamwork, in our preparation and in our practices.”

Furthermore, despite riding an 11-game winning streak, the 5-foot-10 spiker admitted that the blistering momentum that their team has built is nothing but a thing of the past. Instead, she stressed that the most important thing is “no injuries especially for everyone.”

She also reiterated that they are laser focused on the daunting task at hand.

“Kinalimutan na nga namin yung eleven wins na yun. The team, right now, nobody’s thinking about the winning streak, nobody’s thinking about the past, we’re just really focusing on the finals,” she bared. “Everybody is preparing for the finals. And yung sinabi nga ni Jia, yung the past three games, medyo so so lang, nagkakapaan ulit.

“Now, it’s already peaking just in time.”
