After two years, the beloved Rain or Shine tandem of Beau Belga and JR Quinahan reunited on the hardcourt. But it was not for a basketball game.
Thursday evening at the covered courts of Gold’s Gym in Sheridan Street, Mandaluyong, the two burly big men figured in a chicken-eating contest organized by Chooks-to-Go. Besides the a cash prize, the stakes for this contest were high as the winner will get to supply chickens for a charity of his choosing.
Quiñahan easily breezed past Belga in the contest.
“Gutom talaga ako. Kaunti lang kinain kong tanghalian kasi yun nga, pinaghandaan ko talaga ito,” shared Quinahan, who stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs a good 235 pounds.
Parang nagpatalo. Dapat kulang pa sa kanya yun e,” he quipped.
The two have yet to decide which institution they will donate to.
Besides this experience, the two heavyweights relished the chance of sharing a court together again.
“Oo naman, na-mimiss ko siya. All throughout magkasama kami. Nakaka-miss kasi si JR talagang lalaban yan,” expressed Belga as the two won a couple of PBA crowns together. “Yun yung nakaka-miss even sila Paul [Lee], sila Ryan [Arana], sila Jeff [Chan]. Iba kasi yung nabuong grupo ni Yeng Guiao e. Iba yun. Kahit kami, ‘pag tumanda kami, maalala namin yun.”
And Quiñahan is hoping that this contest will be turned into a best-of-three series.
“Dapat best-of-three ito ‘di ba Beau?
