Duremdes bros boost Olsen’s rebuilding efforts at Perpetual

Olsen Racela continues to strengthen his roster at University of Perpetual Help DALTA by securing the transfers of two more UAAP standouts.

Kenji Duremdes and Kylle Magdangal, the sons of PBA great Kenneth Duremdes, committed to join Racela’s Altas program on Sunday.

The two pledged their commitment to Perpetual moments after the Altas’ game in the Breakdown Basketball Invitational earlier in the day at Moro Lorenzo Gym.

Kenji, who stands at 6-foot-2, averaged 4.07 points and 3.64 rebounds for the University of Santo Tomas last season.

Meanwhile, Kylle played in nine games for the Growling Tigers.

After deciding to leave UST, the two brothers initially transferred to University of the East.

However, a reported new UAAP rule regarding transfers within the league – which requires student-athletes to sit out a year but lose two years of eligibility – changed their decision.

Though they will still have to sit out one year before they can play for the Altas in NCAA Season 101, they will still have three years of eligibility remaining.

And those three years are big for the brothers as they have ample time to continue their growth as basketball players and as Perpetualites.

Their commitment is a welcome development for Perpetual, which lost players like Jun Roque, Mark Omega, Cyrus Nitura, and Carlo Ferreras during their build-up to Season 100.

Also eligible for Season 101 are Patrick Sleat, LA Casinillo, JM Tulabut, Allen Maglupay, and Josh Alcantara – all coming from the UAAP as well.

With this bunch of recruits, Racela is silently starting to build a super power in Las Pinas.
