With their fate no longer in their hands, Dindin Santiago-Manabat vowed to go down swinging as Akari faces an almost impossible climb to the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference semifinals.
The Chargers recently won their second consecutive game following a 25-17, 25-14, 25-20 sweep of Capital1 last Thursday, which put them at 4-5 in the standings, good for the seventh spot.
Akari must sweep their remaining games and hope that Creamline would lose the rest of its assignments in four sets or less to have a shot at making it to the top four.
“Yung mindset namin syempre is mabigyan ng magandang laban si Chery at si SGA. Syempre yung mga panalo namin, talagang inaral din namin ang mga team at yun nga, mabigyan ng magandang laban etong last two games namin,” said Santiago-Manabat.
Next up for the Chargers is Chery Tiggo, who just won its fourth consecutive game, on April 20. Then comes the winless Strong Group on April 27.
The 30-year-old opposite spiker was on a mission last Thursday, firing 25 points on 20 attacks, three blocks, and two aces against the Solar Spikers.
And her performance led her side to the important victory.
Santiago-Manabat underscored the importance of enjoying their remaining match to help them perform freely and without pressure in their upcoming games.
“Ngayon kasi yung game namin, inenjoy ko lang and syempre, maka-perform kami, mailabas namin kung ano talaga yung team Akari,” said Santiago-Manabat.
“So every training, every game, ang kailangan lang talaga namin is i-enjoy at ipanalo ang bawat laro namin.”
