The Maranding Nightmare did not let the thought of being stripped of the WBO World Bantamweight Championship linger in his mind.
Marlon Tapales showed why he was a former world champion with an 11th round knockout victory of Shohei Omori on Sunday night at the Edion Arena in Osaka, Japan.
After missing the scales yesterday had stripped him of his crown, the 25-year old vented all his frustrations on Omori for the majority of the bout, as all three judges had him ahead for the first 10 rounds.
Their first bout, last December of 2015, saw Tapales stop Omori in just two rounds.
Though victorious, the WBO title will remain vacant.
Earlier today, South African Zolani Tete emerged victorious in his bout with Arthur Villanueva and was awarded the interim belt.
Tapales, on the other hand, is expected to move up to the super bantamweight (122-pound) division. He will leave Japan with a record of 30-2 slate.
