Denso checks Jaja Santiago, snaps Ageo Medics two-game streak in V.League

Saitama Ageo Medics saw its two-game winning streak snapped, falling to Denso Airybees, 22-25, 19-25, 25-27, in the 2020-21 Japan V.League Division 1 Women’s Tournament at the KitaGas Arena in Sapporo, Sunday.

Filipina import Jaja Santiago was checked throughout the game, finishing with just a point in the 1-hour, 25-minute affair.

Saitama’s leading scorer Mami Uchiseto was also limited to just 14 points, while Yuri Yoshino was held to 13.

The loss dropped Ageo Medics win-loss card to 5-6 but they stayed at seventh place.

Minami Nakamoto led Airybees, who grabbed their fourth straight win, with 16 markers, all from spikes.

Yurie Nabeya added 15 points while Rei Kudo chimed in 14 including a block kill and a service ace.

Denso grabbed a piece of third-place alongside NEC Red Rockets at 8-3.

Up next for Santiago and Saitama is a trip to Saga Sunrise Park General Gymnasium to face Okayama Seagulls on Saturday, Dec. 5, 3 pm.
