Denden Lazaro returns to PVL, joins Choco Mucho

After four years, the Iron Eagle is back home.

Denden Lazaro has signed with Choco Mucho for the upcoming Premier Volleyball League wars.

The 2016 V-League Reinforced Conference Best Libero confirmed the development in Migs Bustos’ Off The Record show.

“I’m really happy to be back with my old teammates. I’m familiar with most of the people in the team.”

Lazaro, who went to rival league PSL from 2017 to 2019, will reunite with fellow Ateneo Lady Eagles Kat Tolentino, Maddie Madayag, and Bea de Leon — Choco Mucho’s Big Three.

But unlike the rest of her fellow Ateneans, this will be her first time to play under Oliver Almadro.

“I’ve never played under him, so it’s a new system to get used to.”

During her stay in the PSL, the 5-foot-5 Lazaro ended her personal four-year title drought after helping Petron win the 2019 Grand Prix. Prior to this, her last championship was back in 2015 with fabled V-League team PLDT.

Choco Mucho, on the other hand, had a forgettable debut in the V-League, finishing in seventh place during the Open Conference.

The 28-year-old defensive specialist had been training with Choco Mucho since February but the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has put the team’s practices to a halt.

It is still not known when the PVL will open its 2020 season.
