Clarin, Surada out to crack Gilas Women 3×3 SEAG lineup

National University rookies Camille Clarin and Angelica Surada were named as part of the Gilas Pilipinas Women 3×3 pool for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

Clarin and Surada were part of the quartet that made history during the 2019 FIBA 3X3 U18 Asia Cup. Together with Ella Fajardo and TIn Cayabyab, they won the country’s first medal in the continental meet, taking home bronze.

However, they have to gut it out against seniors Afril Bernardino, Janine Pontejos, Jack Animam, and Clare Castro  — all of whom are also part of the 5-on-5 pool.

Completing the pool is Gemma Miranda, who was part of the 2018 World Cup squad.

With the wealth of experience of the pool, head coach Patrick Aquino knows that it will be a huge advantage for them come the tournament, which takes place from December 1-2 at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

“The team consists of experienced 3×3 players, and their recent showings in the FIBA events makes them knowledgeable about the game, putting us in a good position to win a medal for the SEA Games.”
