CJ Perez again reigns as the PBA’s scoring champion in the PBA Press Corps Annual Awards Night, Sunday at the TV5 Media Center.
The now-San Miguel Beer guard has won the award for the second straight year. He joins four-time Most Valuable Player Alvin Patrimonio, and another former MVP Asi Taulava with two scoring titles under their belts.
Gary David still has the most number of scoring championships with four. Meanwhile, former MVPs Eric Menk and Mark Caguioa and Perez’s fellow Beerman Terrence Romeo have three each to their names.
The incoming third-year pro out of Lyceum averaged 24.4 points during the Philippine Cup bubble last year while still with Terrafirma.
The former NCAA Most Valuable Player normed 20.8 points as a freshman in 2019. He ran away with the Rookie of the Year award plus a place in the Mythical Team that also featured his now-teammate June Mar Fajardo.
The Hong Kong-born cager had his best scoring performance in last year’s all-Filipino conference versus Phoenix Super LPG back in November 3. He erupted for 32 points, but the Dyip bowed, 94-116.
Having led all scorers in easily the toughest conference held in PBA history, Perez also vied for Best Player of the Conference honors.
