Since December of 2016, Bounty Agro Ventures Incorporated, the parent company of Chooks-to-Go, took an active role with SMART Communications in supporting the Men’s National Basketball team, known as Gilas Pilipinas.
Through this initiative, the Gilas program has made strides, as the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas has been able to join numerous international tournaments to prepare for the 2019 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. The FIBA-sanctioned tournaments that Gilas has joined includes the 3×3 tournaments, the SEABA Championships, the SEA Games, the FIBA Asia Cup, and most recently the FIBA Asia Champions Cup.
Thursday afternoon, though, Chooks-to-Go entered a new field, as the company was named as the title sponsor for the 2017 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix.
“Volleyball is one sport that we believe na may following talaga sa mga Pilipino. Like basketball, we’re throwing our support sa volleyball as well,” shared BAVI president Ronald Mascariñas.
“Actually, the opportunity came in noong binubuo nila itong current Grand Prix na ito. They were looking for a sponsor for one more team. When we looked at the opportunities, we decided to be the title sponsor,” the sports patron added.
But this is just the first step for Chooks-to-Go.
The current climate of Philippine volleyball is separated by two groups, the PSL and the V-League (now known as the Premier Volleyball League). Just like in basketball, Mascariñas is hoping to be the bridge to help unify both camps come 2018, so that the pool for the Women’s National Volleyball team will feature the best and brightest stars of the sport.
“We want to stay neutral and hopefully mabuo natin yung both camps ng volleyball, so we get the best of the best for our national team.”
