BACARRA, ILOCOS NORTE — Maddie Madayag will be sent to the nearest medical facility after suffering an apparent left knee injury during Choco Mucho’s battle for third game against Petro Gazz, Wednesday here at the PCV Socio-Civic and Cultural Center.
According to the league’s medical team headed by Nicole Navarro, Madayag was brought to Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Batac — 25 kilometers and 42 minutes away from the venue to get her magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan.
The 23-year-old left the venue in a wheelchair with a knee brace wrapped around her injured knee.
With the Flying Titans ahead by one, 15-14 in the fourth set, Madayag attempted a quick but was blocked by Ria Meneses. The 5-foot-11 blocker, who is a candidate for one of the three spots for the best middle position, landed awkwardly on her left knee.
The game ended with Petro Gazz winning, 25-21, 25-15, 22-25, 25-20, to gain a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-three series.
After the game, the Flying Titans were clearly devastated with head coach Oliver Almadro sitting on his chair in prayer.
The Flying Titans have played seven matches in the last eight days dating back to August 4, Wednesday.
