Carl Tamayo replaces Justin Gutang as Changwon LG’s new Asian import


Carl Tamayo is headed to Korea.

Changwon LG announced on Wednesday that it has signed the versatile 6-foot-8 forward.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 23-year-old Cebuano played a total of 39 games in two years with the Kings.

Before parting ways with Ryukyu early this year, Tamayo averaged 3.87 points and 2.48 rebounds per game.

The Golden Kings ended up terminating the remaining 1.5 years of their contract with Tamayo after signing naturalized Japanese player Alex Kirk.

The Golden Kings finished as runners-up in the recently concluded 2023-24 B.League season.

Now, Tamayo will replace Justin Gutang as the Asian import for the Sakers.

Gutang spent two years with Changwon LG.

Last year, he averaged 8.24 points, 3.17 rebounds, and 2.38 assists in 58 games.

Changwon LG finished with a 36-18 record last season.
