Calvin Abueva has moved closer to regaining his pro license after completing one of the requirements set by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB).
Phoenix Super LPG team manager Paolo Bugia confirmed to Tiebreaker Times that the 32-year-old has undergone all the medical tests needed from him.
“Yes, Calvin has completed all GAB medical requirements for his license. We are satisfied with all the results,” he wrote in a text message.
The said test is among the two conditions set by the country’s regulatory body for pro sports before it can issue Abueva a new license.
The other requirement is attending GAB’s online seminars, which the Angeles City native has done while inside the PBA bubble in Clark.
Abueva on Thursday morning attended the second of three webinars on the Code of Conduct of a Professional Player.
In a statement, GAB said that the eight-year pro was ‘able to submit his tasked activities from our last session in a timely manner.’
The seminars were supposed to take place for three nights in a row from Monday to Wednesday, but conflicting schedules got in the way.
The date of the third and last seminar has yet to be determined.
Once he gets his license back, Abueva will then wait for Commissioner Willie Marcial, who has the final say regarding his reinstatement in the league.
The San Sebastian product has been serving his suspension for 15 months now, which is the longest in league history.
