The continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) has prompted Beach Volleyball Republic to put its out-of-town activities on hold.
The well-renowned organization notified that its BVR On Tour events in Puerto Galera and Dumaguete City slated in the last week of March and the first week of April, respectively, are suspended indefinitely.
Puerto Galera has also implemented a “community quarantine” starting last Saturday. Meanwhile, Dumaguete City prohibited all forms of public gatherings and events within the city effective last Friday until further notice.
“In light of the fluid coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in the country, the Beach Volleyball Republic announced the postponing of the BVR On Tour Puerto Galera and Dumaguete City legs scheduled on March 27-28 and April 4-5, respectively,” BVR’s statement read.
While the primary goal of BVR revolves around the growth and development of the outdoor sport in the Philippines, it still upholds the well-being of the beach volleyball community.
“The BVR has the paramount duty and responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of its fans, players, officials, and crew.”
Still, BVR will keep the public posted for updates regarding future events through its social media accounts.
