Arvin Tolentino departs NorthPort after contract stalemate, signs with Seoul SK

With Arvin Tolentino and NorthPort still at an impasse regarding a new contract, he has decided to leave the PBA altogether.

The 6-foot-5 forward from Angono, Rizal has signed a three-year deal with KBL club Seoul SK Knights.

Earlier this month, Tiebreaker Times reported that Tolentino’s contract with NorthPort expired last April 30.

Although the PBA Philippine Cup is still ongoing, Tolentino declined to give his consent for NorthPort to “auto-extend” his contract through the remainder of the conference.

Despite the Seoul SK Knights being in the KBL Finals and still having Juan Gomez de Liaño under contract, the team had already expressed interest in acquiring Tolentino.

On Friday, Seoul SK officially bought out the remaining year of Gomez de Liaño’s deal.

Last season, Gomez de Liaño averaged 3.2 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.1 steals over 36 games.

Tolentino, meanwhile, is coming off the best conference of his PBA career.

He posted averages of 23.5 points, 7.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game during the Commissioner’s Cup, earning Best Player of the Conference honors.

Meanwhile, Javi Gomez de Liaño has re-signed with Anyang Jung Kwan Jang, while Justin Gutang and Miguel Oczon were retained by Seoul Samsung and Ulsan Hyundai Mobis, respectively.
