Petro Gazz aces Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips, along with PLDT star Savannah Davison, are in the process of switching federations to represent the Philippines in international competitions.
The trio is currently in the process of changing their federation status, as confirmed by PNVF national team commission head Tony Boy Liao.
Van Sickle and Davison, recognized as two of the best players in the Premier Volleyball League today, are both welcome additions to the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team, which has faced challenges in international competitions in recent years.
For the Filipina-American Van Sickle, 26, her mother Lisa hails from San Emilio, Ilocos Sur. She arrived early this year to join the Angels.
The product of University of Hawaii immediately made an impact by helping the squad clinch the 2024 PNVF Champions League title. She also earned the Tournament MVP award in the process.
On the other hand, Filipina-Canadian Davison, 24, has been with the High Speed Hitters since the Second All-Filipino Conference last year, contributing to her team’s back-to-back fifth-place finishes.
Also set to make the switch is Van Sickle’s Petro Gazz teammate MJ Phillips.
Phillips, who began playing in the Philippines in 2017, previously represented the national team in the 2021 Asian Club Volleyball Championships in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
Despite being under the US Federation, she was allowed to participate because it was a club-based tournament.
Van Sickle, Phillips, and Petro Gazz are one win away from securing a bronze finish in the ongoing PVL All-Filipino Conference after defeating Chery Tiggo in Game 1.
Both Phillips and Van Sickle are currently under USA Volleyball while Davison is under Volleyball Canada.
