Another day without a bogey saw Bianca Pagdanganan in strong contention for in her majors debut.
The 2019 Southeast Asian Games champion fired off another 5-under 65 in the third round of the 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA Golf Championships, to move to solo fifth, Saturday evening (Manila time) at the Aronimik Golf Club, Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
“This is my first majors ever so I must be lying if I said that I wasn’t nervous. It was just me embracing my nerves. I just enjoyed my last two rounds,” she said about what changed in her game.
Picking up from where she left off the previous day, Pagdanganan took the front nine on three birdies to start off her third round.
The 25-year-old product of University of Arizona needed one fewer stroke for the second and fourth holes, before ending the first nine with another birdie.
Two more birdies on the 13th and 16th holes closed the deal for the Filipina, to end the round with yet another 65 that saw her up the rankings with a total of 3-under 207.
Sei Young Kim still maintains her top spot despite a mishap of a 3-under 67 in the previous round. The Korean cards a 7-under 203.
With the gap close enough, Pagdanganan looks to get her breakthrough win in just her first LPGA majors as the tournament closes Sunday evening here in the Philippines.
