2022 AVC Cup for Women

Belen, Nisperos, Laure lead PWNVT pool for AVC Cup


The brightest stars of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines have received call-ups for flag and country for the upcoming 2022 AVC Cup for Women.

Composing the pool are 21 collegiate stars and two high school standouts, in the tournament set to take place from August 21-28 in an as-yet unannounced venue in Manila.

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation announced the composition of the pool during a press conference announcing their partnership with Akari on Friday at Golden Bay Restaurant.

Headlining the team is reigning UAAP Women’s Volleyball Most Valuable Player Mhicaela Belen.

Joining her are fellow all-UAAP team members Camilla Lamina (NU), Jennifer Nierva (NU), Alyssa Solomon (NU), Thea Gagate (La Salle), and Faith Nisperos (Ateneo).

Also part of the team is leading scorer Eya Laure of University of Santo Tomas.

The other collegiate stars in the pool are NU’s Ivy Lacsina and Kamille Cal; La Salle’s Leah Malaluan, Leila Cruz, Fifi Sharma, Jolina Dela Cruz, and Marrione Alba; Ateneo’s Vanie Gandler and Alexis Miner; UST’s Imee Hernandez and Bernadett Pepito; Adamson’s Louie Romero and Trisha Genesis; and University of the Philippines’ Alyssa Bertolano.

Completing the pool are high school standouts Casiey Dongallo and Jelai Gajero of California Precision Academy.

The young team will face South Korea, China, Iran, and Vietnam in Pool A.

Composing Pool B are Japan, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Chinese-Taipei, and Australia.
