Encho Serrano had a spectacular year.
Leaving La Salle in order to turn pro with Chooks-to-Go National Basketball League club Pampanga Delta.
With norms of 17.7 points, 6.3 assists, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game, he was able to lead Pampanga to the championship while also copping Finals MVP honors.
Just a week after the Chairman’s Cup, Serrano was back playing again, this time signing with Basilan-Jumbo Plastic Medical Depot in the Chooks-to-Go MPBL Invitational.
Again, the 6-foot guard was spectacular, averaging 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists, helping Basilan win the crown.
So what’s next for Serrano? Well, he is eyeing the March draft of the PBA.
“Baka magpa-draft na. Depende kay Coach [Jerson Cabiltes],” said the soft-spoken cager out of Apalit, Pampanga.
Cabiltes though won’t stop Serrano from entering the draft, saying that he will be all out in supporting his ward.
“Let’s see what happens next,” he said. “If there is a better opportunity for them, I let them go for the security of themselves and their family. Si Encho, malay natin biglang magpa-draft.
“Actually, I don’t restrict my players sa draft. Minsan kasi baka masobrahan pa sa hinog. I just always tell them to do extra work kasi iba yung labanan din dun. Yun lang lagi ko inaadvice sa kanila.”
